My Dolls

I can not remdreamcatcherember a time when I did not sew or have a collection of fabric. My dollmaking recaptures the playful sewing of my youth. It involves so many different techniques and materials. I am intrigued by the possiblities of what I will use to constuct my next doll. Will I use a recycled CD or feathers and beads. Will I hand paint the face, then needlesculpt it, or will I form the face from polymer clay? It seems no matter what I choose, a unique being comes into the world. It is a joy to watch his or her individuality emerge.

My Quilts

bootsThe word "gaudy" is derived from the Latin word for joy. Working with vibrant colors is an act of joy for me. I never tire of placing different fabrics together to see how different colors and patterns will interact. I choose subjects which lend themselves to vivid colors.

Once I have the subject constructed, I quilt it down.  This is my current passion.  As I quilt, I lose myself in the patterns.  Look for flowers, leaves, and spirals in my work. The quilting deepens the colors and creates texture.
